Snicket Park, SecheltCFDC Profile

The CFDC-SC is a non-profit, federally and provincially funded organization focused on developing the economic and entrepreneurial capacity of the Sunshine Coast. It initiates and supports new business development through loans, business counselling and assistance, business plan training workshops and monitoring of business plans.

In addition, CFDC-SC sanctions a wide range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the economic base of the region. Many of these are linked with multiple government and community resources in the belief that a concerted effort by all stakeholders will have a greater impact in identifying solutions and new directions agreed upon by all those involved.

Mission
Through leadership and partnership, our programs and services inform, instruct, inspire and support emerging and expanding businesses and community initiatives that strengthen our socio-economic base.


Goal: To stimulate employment opportunities and economic growth on the Sunshine Coast. In order to accomplish this goal we:
- offer financial and technical assistance to new and existing businesses
- participate and/or facilitate regional economic development planning
- help facilitate cooperative community initiatives initiate research projects to
- identify employee training and educational needs provide
- entrepreneurial/business management programs and workshops for new and existing businesses


We are committed to:

- Coordinating community-based, strategic, economic planning
- Working with communities to overcome social impediments and challenges
- Providing guidance to entrepreneurs in the form of consultation, training, funding and
ongoing support of their business venture
- Investing in business ventures through loans to small businesses and entrepreneurs
- Assisting individuals in pursuit of self-employment
- Providing professional development training, focused on entrepreneurial and business management skills
- Providing individuals with direction and information regarding appropriate government programs and services
- Pursuing community economic and diversification opportunities
- Providing contract development and diversification services for private firms, communities
and various departments of federal and provincial government.
