Infinity Marine: Carrying Forward a Local Legacy on the Sunshine Coast

Infinity Marine has long been part of the Sunshine Coast boating community, known for its skilled service and dependable support for local boaters. From their busy workshop to the docks where they meet customers, Davis Owen and Melissa Harris lead a business built on experience, teamwork, and strong community ties.

The company was founded by Melissa’s dad, Gerry, who spent decades building its reputation for quality and trust. When the time came for him to retire, Melissa stepped into ownership with her business partner, Davis. Davis brought a fresh perspective, deep mechanical knowledge, and a lifelong passion for life on the water, while Melissa brought years of hands-on experience within the company and close relationships with its customers. Together, they are continuing the family legacy while bringing new ideas and energy to the business.

“For me it was very personal,” Melissa said. “Infinity Marine was my dad’s company and I’d been working alongside him for nearly seven years before taking over. Carrying on his legacy and helping him retire is a pretty special feeling.”

Since taking over, Davis and Melissa have focused on strengthening the foundation Gerry built while modernizing operations for the future. They have improved systems, expanded services, and maintained the strong relationships that have kept the business trusted for decades.

For Davis and Melissa, the transition has been a time of learning, growth, and teamwork, supported by a strong crew that keeps things running smoothly. With help from Community Futures Sunshine Coast, they were also able to invest in new equipment that expanded their services and improved efficiency.

Infinity Marine’s crew now includes three mechanics, one apprentice, two front-office staff, and another team member soon to join. “Our success really comes down to the people we work with and the customers who trust us,” Davis said. “Growing up around Howe Sound and always having a passion and love for the water, a large portion of the community and I share that passion for boating. Being able to help fuel that passion brings me a great deal of joy and happiness.”

Looking ahead, Davis and Melissa plan to move into a larger space within the next few years to meet rising demand and continue building their team. They want to grow while staying true to the company’s roots, maintaining the same dependable, community-focused service that has kept customers coming back for years. Both agree the Sunshine Coast is a special place to run a small business. The community's support and belief in local entrepreneurs have helped Infinity Marine thrive in its first year under new leadership.
